Legacy in Lyrics

I will create a showcase honoring Black Philadelphia Musicians Style throughout the past 50 years going back to Hall & Oates. Creating a storyline of how fashion and presentation makes a musicians star presence, whether it's Patti LaBelle's outstanding gowns or Will Smith colorful button ups in the 90s. How did their fashion choices represent their star presence to the world. We loved Eve's leather, denim and cheetah print and it fully showcased her as the "ride or die" girl from her music but so did Jill Scott's plunging V neck flowy dresses and gowns. What made them feel at their best? Every artist has a different and unique style that represented exactly who they were down to Black thought's hats.

I will create 2-3 original evening wear pieces (a suit, gown and statement piece) made up of fabric covered in lyrics and other material of the most well known songs from these Philadelphia Artists as the center piece to a showcase. Creating a museum like display of the mannequins with these looks inspired by these artists. I will mix textiles from denim, leather, cotton and more to make an outstanding statement about the impact of their style and songs.

Picture a Patti LaBelle Overly dramatic gown satin covered in the lyrics of " Somebody Loves You Baby" with a denim shaped outline of a baby boy across the bottom side representing her walking with her son, who she said the song was about. I'm going for that type of artistry with these creations.
