Sisters in Rhythm, A House of Our Own

This project will be in partnership between myself and fellow Philadelphian collage artist Yannick Lowery. Our project proposal is to curate an exhibition of collage works exploring the depth and detail of the Motown area within the city of Philadelphia. As you may know, the historical genre of Motown and Hitsville originated in the city of Detriot, however, its ties to the city of Philadelphia have an immense significance that deserves dedication and investigation. The Boys II Men song “Motownphilly” speaks volumes to this truth. As a native Philadelphian, who spent summers growing up in Detriot, I have a commitment to the Motown area from both sides of each city's profound history. During the duration of this project, we will create between 20-30 original collage works celebrating Philadelphia's vast Motown roots and lineage to the movement. These works will be created with the intent of being displayed in a public art installation for the final event.
