Hip Hop Soul

This project centers black women players of the B3 Organ, in order to celebrate their history and legacy today. There is unfortunately not enough attention paid to these artists and their contribution to Black Philadelphia Music History. The goal of this project will be to recreate songs from Shirley Scott and Trudy Pitts with this generation of musicians, along with original compositions inspired by their work. Use of synths and other futuristic elements can bring this music into the 21st century, appealing to a younger audience and pushing artistic boundaries. By creating a short documentary, we can show our process to fellow musicians and artists along with educating the general public.
