“History and Reverence”

Using textiles as the medium the pieces take on the form of a mini quilt and fans. Textiles are unique in that they are a basic component of human needs and therefore touches all humans from birth to death. Giving fabric the power of familiarity. Fans are usually associated with the black church and quilts are identified as a source of warmth and comfort. Giving the art pieces these forms is a metaphor for the healing power of music.

All pieces are mixed media fiber. Fabric collage, photo transfer, hand dyed and commercial fabrics. Machine quilted with beads, sequins and embroidery.
